Cabbagetown Boxer – Kemal Tejeda Going to the Canadian Nationals

Cabbagtown-Boxing-Club--Kemel-Tejeda-lenkalifephotographyOn March 23rd, a chilly Spring evening in Cabbagetown, our cherished Cabbagetown Boxing Gym hosted a very successful Fundraiser for 20-year-old, veteran boxer Kemel Tejeda. With 7 years of hard training ‘under his belt’, 17 fights and 12 wins- he is a true ‘Golden Gloves Champion’! “Kemel is blessed at being a big guy with surprising speed.” Says coach Jim Bland.
The fundraiser was an entertaining evening of sparring, mingling and seeing old friends and neighbours. With well over 16 fighters, it was an evening of spectacular exhibitions of their tremendous talents. The community rallied together, sending out social media, word of mouth and knocking on doors, and within just a few days this boxing fundraiser was on. Over 75 people from Cabbagetown & surrounding areas within this close-knit group came together to help raise over $2500.00 for Kemel’s big trip to BC. “This will be one of the biggest moments of my life! When a challenge comes my way, I’ll go out of my way to conquer it” says Kemel.
He and his coaches are off to the 2019 Super Channel Boxing Championships on April 22nd. This national sporting event will be held from April 23rd– 27th, hosted by BC Boxing at that the Bear Mountain Resort in Langford, just north of Victoria BC. Kemel would like to thank all the folks that came out, volunteered and donated to help raise the funds to help him obtain this dream. Good luck Kemel – Conquer your Challenge!
