Art Matters Fundraiser at Winchester Ecole

Contributed by Jennifer Torres. When the community comes out to support their local public school, people doing great things. creates such a wonderful event!

Raising funds to support schools art programs is so important, on Thursday April 25th Winchester Public School did just that! Art Matters! Each class worked together to create one collaborative piece of art that was raffled off on the night of the event.
Each canvas was displayed gallery style so parents and friends could peruse the artwork while sipping on wine from Niagara Winery, Caroline Cellars or craft beer from Beau’s. Also generously donated were charcuterie platters from Daniel et Daniel, freshly shucked oysters from Böehmer Restaurant, De La Mer and Hooked fish markets, fish and chips from Beer Batter and mini sandwiches from It’s Jenny’s.

Through the sale of admission and raffle tickets, the silent auction and art cards printed of each classroom canvas, over $3000 was raised that evening! Quite a few raffle battles ensued over the coveted students’ artwork, all in fun, eventually everyone went home very happy to have supported such a great cause. The live band was a great hit, made up of Winchester Teachers, the food was amazing and all the efforts by parent and teacher volunteers, very much appreciated. Last year’s funds helped support Winchester’s first ever student written musical. We hope next year’s production is another showstopper.
