A Home to Enjoy Indoors and Out

Contributed by Kathy Flaxman. There’s a special experience early risers can enjoy – a coffee outdoors on the deck right after sunrise. One member of a young professional Cabbagetown couple, clients of Weenen General Contracting, had their back garden transformed last summer and singled out this early morning bliss as a favourite aspect of the revamped space.  “There’s just me and my laptop and my coffee,” one said.  “I love, now that the dafs are blooming, to enjoy the sun bouncing off the deck and the peace and serenity. It’s wonderful to enjoy this before anyone else is up!”

Hosting amazing parties that can be spread throughout the home into what is essentially an added outdoor living area is another simply fabulous aspect of a great garden area.  This one, with slate flooring, cedar deck and wall, two gas connections. (one for a heater and one for a bbq) and oh yes, the flowers, is the basis for some celebrations with panache! “We’ve had more than 50 guests at one time,” the couple said.

“Outdoor space can effectively create an extra room on a home that can be used for months every year,” Joe Rozman of Weenen General Contracting Limited noted.  “Heat sources, lighting, arbours and other features can really enhance the outdoor experience.”
This couple’s connection with Weenen General Contracting dates back several years and several different design/build projects.  “We really like how they take us through everything beforehand and look after us during,” they said.  “Someone visits the job every day.  They’ve always come through for us!”
