With an array of tasty restaurants to choose from in Cabbagetown, with more than a few as my favorites depending on the mood I’m in, it was a nice surprise to come across a new and different one. Yes, it’s Asian fare like others in the neighborhood but this one has amazing stuff you can’t find at the others.
Welcome to the neighborhood – Gushi! Japanese, “yatai” streetfood culture. For fried chicken lovers, Gushi chicken is a must try. If you prefer seafood, Takoyaki -Octopus Ball, is on the menu. Veggie-heads, their vegetable croquettes could convert this meat eater. Even their rice is different, not your usual white or fried but multigrain purple. It may sound different and too healthy but remember it’s a streetfood culture and will bring you back to that post-drinks, late night meal… careful – this stuff is addictive!
Drop on by, not just for the food but to introduce yourself to the pleasant staff and owners who are new to the neighbourhood. They’re super nice and are giving Cabbagetown a go, rather than the Westend…so we should give them the same gesture.
