CANADA DAY MESSAGE FROM BILL MORNEAU, MP TORONTO CENTRE

Happy Canada Day to everyone in Toronto Centre, and across our great country. This year more than ever, Canada Day is an important national celebration that brings us together, even if it is done virtually. Canadians from coast to coast to coast are invited to take part in an array of virtual festivities and express our pride in our home. You can find out more by going to Canada.ca/canada-day.

This year also marks an important day in our history. It is the 40th anniversary of the official adoption of our national anthem, “O Canada,” and we will recognize the key role of the Métis Nation in bringing Manitoba into Confederation 150 years ago.

July 1st is a day to take a moment to think about our Canadian values and the many ways our country stands out. We should be proud of all that we do to help one another, and rise above challenges and adversity as one. While our country is not perfect, we are always striving to be better, and that too is something to be proud of.

Whether you join us for our virtual celebrations, on hold your own, I hope you have a fantastic Canada Day. I look forward to celebrating with you in person next year!
