Contributed by Kevin from Kendall & Co. Tuesday October 2nd, Cabbagetown’s creative businesses play host to a fundraiser benefitting Green Thumbs Growing Kids.
Green Thumbs Growing Kids (GTGK) is a nonprofit that run programs for children and families living downtown on low incomes. They advocate for a Garden in Every School by developing school gardens and greenhouse programs that connect gardening and growing healthy food to the curriculum. Their award-winning programs teach where food comes from and how to care of urban green spaces.
Did you know GTGK has been in Cabbagetown since 2001? Their longest-running school food garden is at Winchester Public School, serving as the model to mentor visiting groups to make this initiative into their own.
This October’s fundraiser named, “New Roots Dinner Series”, is a result of shared values between GTGK with Daniel et Daniel who will graciously cater delectable hors d’oeuvres plus a 4-course, incorporating harvests from GTGK community gardens!
During this special evening, dine as an intimate party of 10 at indie merchant Spruce on Parliament, fashionable Labour of Love, Akasha’s art gallery and in a private home on Gerrard St. Feast inside the Toronto Dance Theatre or at a grand table of 20 amongst the whimsical décor at colourful Kendall & Co.
Tickets are $200 / person. Prix Fixe includes wine, beer and soft beverages. Corporate & Private Buyouts available. Purchase tickets online http://www.newrootsdinner.ca
