Dinner with a view

Globe-dining-photo-2-DinnerWithAView-(002)Contributed by Jennifer Torres. What an interesting experience. Upping your dinner experience by dining with five of your closest friends and family in your own personal dome, sounds divine, but I came away from the evening with mixed feelings.
The idea of dining on food prepared by award winning chefs, al fresco under the night sky was an experience few could pass up. The sparkling domes with furry blankets and twinkling lights created cozy mini biospheres perfect for sharing dinner outdoors during Toronto’s frigid Spring nights. Unfortunately, what was blatantly missing was the promised view.
In place of that we got the unexpected homeless evacuation protests. This event was definitely geared towards “sharing via social media”. It was Instagram gold at its best! Although, I am a fan of the Gardiner Expressways exposed concrete and beams, I am a little envious of Montreal’s Dinner experience with a venue that boasts a waterfront view and a Ferris wheel.
As you can see from this great photo – the view from outside the glowing little globes was much more impressive than from inside. Perhaps this event will improve with time and forethought for the dining patrons.
